Windows 10 Latest News: Microsoft Releases New OS Build at Build Developer Conference
The Redmond, Washington-based tech giant Microsoft has just release a latest Technical Preview build of its latest operating system Windows 10 at the Build Developer Conference 2015, being held from April 29 to May 1. While the tech behemoth did not announce all the features of Windows 10, the new Technical Preview offers users a number of improvements to Cortana, Continuum and more.
Tech Radar reports, that the new Windows 10 build 10074 shows plenty of visual changes on the surface, together with upgrading the overalll user experience. While Microsoft is reintroducing the translucent Aero Glass from Windows 7 to Windows 10, it is also incorporating support for high DPI displays as well.
Multitasking
At the same time, users will find remarkable improvements to multitasking as well as switching tasks between tablet and desktop views, especially for those with two-in-one hybrids or tablets. The latest update makes Continuum more perceptive to tablet users.
Referring to the change, Microsoft stated in a blog post, "When you close an application in Tablet mode, we take you back to the Start screen instead of the desktop as you would expect when using a tablet." It further added, "You will see general polish on snapping, and the shared divider between two snapped windows now let's you adjust the size."
Cortana
Now, on build 10074, Cortana is further integrated into the Windows experience, allowing users to start to search for an app within the Start menu and, subsequently, Cortana will take over. In addition, the interface of Cortana has also been revamped.
According to Microsoft, "The new Windows split view control has been added to Cortana's left rail, offering quick access to key Cortana functionality like the Notebook, Reminders or Feedback on how Cortana's doing," adding, "This split view control helps anchor Cortana to the rest of the Windows UI and provides navigation consistent with many other Windows first party applications."
In addition, now Cortana is also able to return results to additional types of queries. The user can check for their flight status, undertake mathematical calculations, convert units, even ask Cortana to tell a joke, catch the time in a different time zone, search for definitions, check the weather and stocks, define words as well as obtain tech help.
Further updates
The latest release also offers new updates to the Xbox, Music and Video apps withinWindows 10. Previously the Windows Store Beta app was a gay tile earlier, but is now a blue tile.
Stating that the company is expanding its Store Beta to more markets, Microsoft said, "Apps you purchased on a PC running Windows 8.1 will now show up in the Store Beta on Windows 10 as owned (and vice-versa)."

In addition to the above-mentioned addps, the new update also incorporates latest system sounds to Windows 10. Besides, Microsoft is adding new learning experiences on the Lock screen to enable Insiders to obtain the utmost from their Technical Preview experience.
According to the Redmond-based tech company, "These ranges from tips and tricks on the Lock screen, to helping users discover high quality apps through Start, the Lock screen and Cortana."
Currently, the latest Windows 10 build 10074 is available through Windows Update.
