Windows 10 Internet Explorer News: Project Spartan to Replace IE Browser

Microsoft started off with a bang, demonstrating its free Windows 10, Cortana support, and new notification center at the recently concluded showcase event. But the big show-stealer was Project Spartan.

Corporate Vice President of Operating Systems, Joe Belfiore, explained that Spartan is a web browser that will replace Internet Explorer as the new default browser. Internet explorer is still an available browser for those of you loyal to the true blue "e" icon, but Spartan offers a serious advantage: Cortana.

Cortana will not only be supported by Spartan, it will be integrated into the browser. The virtual assistant is reportedly better than even its more popular competitors, like Siri. As soon as you begin typing into the browser, Cortana will finish your phrase and suggest information. For example, you can type "weather" into the browser and get the environment in your area,

In addition to Cortana, Windows 10 comes with new features like page annotations, a feature that allows you to draw and comment right on website pages. All of the comments you add, you can share with others by syncing your OneNotes. For readers, Spartan includes a built-in reader tool to save articles and synchronize reading lists with Windows mobile phones.

There are many important, awesome features that Windows 10 promises, but the Spartan replacement has been drawing the most attention for now. While we do not know how successful Project Spartan will be, we are excited to get our hands on it in the coming months.
