Will Apple Push Back iPad Air 3 Release Date to 2016 to Support iPad Pro October Launch?
Considering the fact that Apple Inc. has been launching their iPad product regularly either in October or November, it was commonly assumed that the company would be rolling out the iPad Air 3 along with the much hyped iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 sometime this October. However, if a recent report is to be believed, the release date of the iPad Air 3 may be pushed back to early 2016 with a view to give room for the iPad Pro.
Quoting a report in the Chinese site Economic Daily News, which was translated by MacWorld, Christian Today states that the production of the iPad Air 3 has been reportedly stopped with a view to concentrate primarily on the iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4. The report in the Chinese site further states that manufacture of all other Apple devices have supposedly been deferred to meet the launch demands for these two devices.
On the other hand, after going through the rumors, MacRumors reported that Economic Daily News has been somewhat unpredictable when it comes to precisely forecasting release schedules of products from major tech manufacturers.
In addition, MacRumors claims that while Apple might not be putting its entire concentration on updating the iPad Air 2 to the iPad Air 3, the Cupertino-headquartered company may still release the product before 2016 by delegating the development of the device to third party companies. According to the report, it is possible that Apple will release an iPad Air 3 with least improvements, something similar to what the company did when upgrading from the iPad mini 2 to the iPad mini 3.
Meanwhile, DigiTimes further stated that contrary to the public's expectations, Apple is currently not producing as many iPad Pro devices. Perhaps, this is mainly due to the unpopularity of tablets in comparison to smart phones, especially those with larger display, for instance the iPhone 6 Plus.
However, as of now Apple has not confirmed any of these rumored release dates. From what it appears, any one of these devices may still be launched on time this October or November, along with a new edition of the iPhone.
