Wii U News: Updated ‘80s Game ‘Collateral Thinking’ Will Come To Console

The news has been grim about the Wii U on the way to being phased out in favor of the Nintendo NX, however, the company is still producing games for the current console such as "Collateral Thinking."

This was reported by Nintendo Life which said that Nintendo is going totally retro with this game, patterned after "Donkey Kong".

The developer also explained to the website that "Collateral Thinking" is a blend of "Donkey Kong" for the gameplay, the single-screen format of "Mario Brothers," and the "WarioWare's" "unpredictability. But then they "crank up the speed, intensity, and absurdity" to make sure it's going to be very fun for the players.

The common perception now is that the company will stop developing games for the Wii U when the Nintendo NX comes out. The main reason, of course, is that it's not really very profitable after only selling over 12 million units compared to the 20 to 40 million for the Xbox One and the Playstation.

Also, current Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said that he predicted the downfall of the Nintendo Wii U for the mere fact that it was too similar to the Wii. However, he did not confirm the news that they will eventually phase out the Wii U when the Nintendo NX will come out. The new console is reportedly geared to attract third-party developers.

However, it must be said that despite the lack of third-party games, Nintendo still dominated sales in the Japan market this year with titles such as "Super Mario Maker" (Wii U), "Splatoon" (Wii U), "Monster Strike" (3DS), "Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3" (3DS), "Yokai Sangokushi" (3DS), and "Monster Hunter Cross" (3DS), according to the news report.
