Entitled "Dissonance Theory," Dolores is set to join William and Logan on a bounty hunt in the badlands, according to Spoilers Guide. As per the publication, the Man in Black, who is with Lawrence, uncovers a crucial hint in his pursuit to unlock the maze. Also, fans will see Dr. Ford and Theresa's discussions about the park's future while Maeve is set to be distraught by a recurring vision.

According to Indie Wire, episode 4 presents the characters as people who are looking for answers to their own queries. As per the publication, the episode showcases them applying various and intriguing approaches to find those answers, which sees it as a "quest-driven" episode. It is added that they manage to retrieve vital information, such as The Man in Black's search for a lost narrative and Maeve's attempt to know the people behind the masked figures who haunt her memories

Arnold could be the key, as per Vox. According to the publication, Ford keep bringing his co-founder Arnold and this is seen as interesting, as The Man in Black also knows a lot about the latter as well. In the show, the Man asks Armistice that he had been the original settler and creator of a world where one could do whatever one wanted, except dying.

"Which means no matter how real this world sees, it's still just a game," The Man said.
