Wendi Trilling News: CBS Comedy Executive Leaves Network after 24 Years of Service
After more than 24 years as the CBS network executive, Wendi Trilling is saying her goodbyes. Trilling will be leaving her position as the executive vice president of comedy development at CBS Entertainment upon the expiration of her contract, which will happen in June.
Trilling first joined the company in 1990 as an assistant in current programs before she moved on to comedy/drama development in 1993. She has been serving in her current role since 2004.
During her time as the executive vice president of comedy development, she has developed several hit series, including How I Met Your Mother, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and the recently debuted, Mom, among other shows.
Ten of the comedy series developed by Trilling have been sold into off network syndication. In a statement about her exit, Trilling stated that it is time for her to move towards a new challenge.
"After more than 24 years at CBS, it's time to take a breath and look toward a new challenge," Trilling said.
"I have been beyond fortunate to work or an incomparable leader and creative force in Leslie Moonves and to have had a boss and mentor like Nina Tassler. I've had the singular experience of working with the very best writers, producers and directors in television comedy from the proud perch of the CBS Television Network, and that has been a true privilege," Trilling was heard saying.
A replacement has not yet been determined for Trilling, and it is not yet clear when CBS will make that announcements.
