'We Happy Few' Release Date News, Gameplay: New Trailer Revealed, Social Skills Needed For Game Survival [WATCH]
Compulsion Games has released the latest trailer for "We Happy Few" and it is revealed that coping with the player's environment factors in to the character's survival.
According to CBC News, Compulsion Games head Guillaume Provost unrolled the curtains for the studio's creepy psychological horror game "We Happy Few" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016. The title relates to the dystopian novel "Brave New World" and the classic game "Bioshock."
The trailer followed the player's character Arthur Hastings, whose job is to censor depressing stories in the previous issues of the newspaper. It is revealed that he stopped taking the pills, which makes him a downer or a social pariah. This further turns his life in threat, since the residents in his community are not in favor or downers. People who are caught skipping their pills will be beaten.
The gameplay sees Hastings walking around his office while revealing some possible fates for downers. These include a man injecting a syringe to another person's neck, some posters saying that it is never too late to have a happy past, plus a group of residents beating a pinata with sticks.
According to Polygon, "We Happy Few" not only requires attention to the character's health aspects, but also being conscious on how well the character tries to fit into the game community in the game. The game needs the character's conformity to the societal rules by taking a designer drug called Joy. While a person can boost his social interaction with the said drug, it can be really harmful to his health.
Overall, "We Happy Few" is set to be released on July 26. Watch the trailer.
