'Wayward Pines' Season 2 Spoilers, News: Second Season Takes New Characters, Showrunners On Board
Hit psychological thriller "Wayward Pines" is coming back for a second season, and everyone's going crazy about it.
After the events that transpired towards the end of season 1, fans and critics are now bemused about season 2's premiere, which will be released in a few months. Some say it will pick up right after the events of season 1, while some say it will be a whole new indirect sequel to the previous one.
But before everything else, it should be noted that season 1 showrunner Chad Hodge will no longer take over season 2. He will be replaced by the creator and producer of NBC's 2014 show "Believe," Mark Friedman, so major changes in the storyline may not be too far from the reality.
There's a new lead coming in as well, as Jason Patric has been reportedly tapped to play the role of an invaluable surgeon for the people of Wayward Pines, under the name Dr. Theo Yedlin. Djimon Hounsou is also rumored to join the cast as a native of Wayward Pines and a historian. He appears to be the only one who can "provide a unique bridge" between the Wayward Pines now and the Wayward Pines inhabited by humans before.
"Season two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future, and the haunting character drama to whole new levels, and we can't wait for our fans to continue the ride next year," said President for Entertainment of FOX David Madden.
Wayward Pines season 2 is expected to be out on May 25.
