'Wayward Pines' Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers, News: ‘Empire’s’ Terrence Howard Reprises His Role In Second Season?

Terrence Howard's character, Sheriff Pope, is very much dead in the pilot of "Wayward Pines," but he's going to reprise his role in season 2, according to multiple news reports and previews.

While there's no word yet how the creators of the show will go around the fact that he died in season 1, it's always a welcome sight to see the multi-awarded actor reprise his role as the abusive sheriff with a lot of secrets once again.

When "Wayward Pines" returns on Fox for season 2, there would no longer be Matt Dillion who died in season 1. In his stead is Jason Patric, along with Djimon Hounsou of "Blood Diamond" and Josh Helman of "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Now, the events will pick right up where the first season ended. According to the preview from Variety, the residents are in a full-blown rebellion against the First Generation. Patric's character, Dr. Yedlin, will be roused from suspended animation only to find out that he's right in the middle of a war.

He would be instrumental in changing the status quo, although it's not clear if that's going to be a good thing or a bad thing.

In other news and preview, Jason Patric and Djimon Hounsou will be joined by Kacey Rohl of "Hannibal," Nimrat Kaur of "Homeland" and Tom Stevens of "Falling Skies."

"Wayward Pines" season 2 will premiere on May 25 on FOX at 7 p.m. Central. There should also be more news and previews that will surely come out prior to the airing date.
