Dr. Yedlin's attempt to bridge the communication gap between humans and the Abbies led to a major casualty in episode 7 of "Wayward Pines" season 2.

In the episode, Dr. Theo used flash cards with symbols to teach Margaret, the first female Abby that he captured, to teach her basic concepts like "friend" and "leader." He hoped that he would be able to confirm Margaret's control over the other Abbies.

To test his theory, the doctor got into a cage with a vicious Abby and almost got his arm ripped off. A few moments after, Margaret intervened through shrieking.

Meanwhile, Jason decided to end all the experimentation by shooting all the Abbies in their heads. As Margaret witnessed him slaughtering her kinfolk, and having seen Dr. Theo keying in the code to her cell, the female Abby attacked Megan until she bled to death. Margaret then went outside to gather her troops and wreak havoc in and around the strange town of Wayward Pines.

The episode also featured a series of flashbacks showing how CJ checked in and out of Earth every two decades, thus witnessing all the tragedies, wars and calamities that the world had gone through over the centuries. The episode also showed how he came across Griffin once and how he begged him to take him with him.

It was shown in the episode that as 4014 arrived, CJ released Pilcher and Pilcher witnessed hundreds of Abbies everywhere.
