Watch Urbane LTE News: LG's Wearable Smartwatch to Retail at $365, Stiff Competition for Apple Watch?
Apple Watch has generated lots of interest among tech experts as well as consumers, but with LG fixing the price of its latest wearable device, the Watch Urbane at $365, the Cupertino-based tech titan is likely to face some stiff competition.
Christian Today reports that even $365 may be a very high price for the common consumer to afford, the most expensive model of Apple Watch carries a price tag of $17,000 - something really ridiculous for a wearable device that is yet to be tested. Moreover, different from many already available smartwatches, the LG Watch Urbane LTE offers LTE as well as Wi-Fi connectivity.
As LG Electronics has been successful in providing a firmware fix that makes it possible to overcome the 10 meter Wi-Fi range limit on wearables, people using Watch Urbane LTE will be able to connect their wearable devices to wireless networks at a much further range. Apart from improving the Wi-Fi range, Watch Urbane also offers enhancements related to the smartwatch's interface.
According to the report, Watch Urbane LTE users can also easily access their favorite list of applications. Moreover, the latest wearable device from LG Electronics come with a featured dubbed as 'LG Call,' which will offer the users with a great degree of flexibility. People wearing the smartwatch will be able to access a list of recent calls made from their smartphones, in addition to being able to call directly from Watch Urbane, while the smartphone remains in their pockets.
Besides packing an LTE modem, Wi-Fi adapter and an improved Android Wear interface in general, the Watch Urbane will also serve the purpose of a fitness tracker. 'LG Pulse' will measure heartbeats of the wearer while they are undertaking any physical exercise. In terms of hardware specifications, Watch Urbane comes with a 1.3 inch P-OLED display, similar to the one present on G Watch R, but with a somewhat reduced bezel.
The smartwatch packs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 SoC and has 4 GB of on-board memory. Compared to the base model of Apple Watch, Watch Urbane may be somewhat expensive, but is a better purchase.
