'Watch Dogs 2' News, Rumors: Sequel Game Leaked Announcement via LinkedIn
New reports are emerging about an Ubisoft employee to may have accidentally announced a sequel for the popular open world action-adventure video game 'Watch Dogs'.
For those that may not know, the original 'Watch Dogs' game released May 27, 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows PC platforms.
Stepping back to the rumors about an upcoming WD sequel, the news stems from something listed on an Ubisoft Senior Programmer's Linkedin page. One of the things listed on the employee's social media page read "Watch Dogs 2."
The listing was first spotted by Videogamer, on Julien Risse's page who works out of the Paris Office for Ubisoft and was part of the original title's creation, as well as its DLC expansion pack, "Bad Blood."
On that note, this is not the first time fans of the game heard about the possibility of a 'Watch Dogs 2'. Last year Ubisoft Montreal's VP of Creative Lionel Raynaud said that the company would explore new heights for the next title and would introduce drastic changes to the game.
Moving into what gamers can expect with the new game, the original title's protagonist may not be returning for the next edition. Sources are claiming that, Aiden Pearce, will not be coming back for 'Watch Dogs 2', probably because the developers are looking to make some drastic changes in the series.
Beyond the recent Linkedin listed leak, there has been little word about anything else concerning 'WD 2'. However, many gaming fanatics and series fans are of the view that the next installment in the franchise will be showcased at this year Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California.
For those that may not know, the original 'Watch Dogs' was released in May of last year and took gamers on a trip in an open world third-person adventure in an era of supercomputers. The player assumes the role of Aiden Pearce who's a hacker that is being hunted down after a job gone wrong.
Last but not least, more support for the idea that Ubisoft will come out with a 'Watch Dogs 2', falls on the numbers for sales of the original game. As of December 31, 2014, 'Watch Dogs' has sold over 10 million copies.
