Washington Redskins NFL 2015 News: Robert Griffin III to Miss Game vs. Ravens Due to Concussion

Contrary to an earlier an decision, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will be missing Saturday's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens as he has been diagnosed with a concussion, the Associated Press reports.

The team released a statement Friday, NFL independent neurologist Robert Kurtzke was quoted that Griffin "Should be held from game play this weekend and be retested in one to two weeks before a firm conclusion to return to game play can be made."

Griffin had a rough outing in his last preseason game against the Detroit Lions, getting sacked multiple times before catching a brutal hit that led to his concussion. He was previously cleared to play against the Ravens for Saturday's game.

"We had anticipated yesterday that the patient would be cleared for full participation in game play for this weekend," Dr. Kurtzke said in a statement released Friday. "However, upon further scrutiny today of the neuropsychologist data, I agree with the neuropsychologist that he should be held from game play this weekend."

"Trusting in God even when I don't understand why certain things happen," Griffin tweeted Friday.

As noted by the AP report, in two preseason games, Griffin is 6-13 passing for 44 yards. The Team has not scored a touchdown with him on the field. With RG3 out of action, Kirk Cousins went 8-12 and Colt McCoy went 5-6, with both quarterbacks completing touchdown passes.

Earlier this summer, Griffin was quoted as saying he believes he's the best quarterback in the league.

"I don't feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I'm better than this guy or better than that guy," Griffin said. "It's more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play, I know I'm the best quarterback on this team. I feel like I'm the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that," he added.
