'Walking Dead' New Spin-Off Series News: AMC Show Already Set for Two Seasons
AMC has not only released some first look images for their upcoming 'The Walking Dead' spin-off series, but has demonstrated a ton of confidence, in regards to the new show's success, the news of them already picking it up for two seasons.
Judging on how 'The Walking Dead' has managed to become one of the most popular television series on the air, they're confidence may be very well placed.
The first season is believed to air only six episodes and premiere sometime late Summer, but the second season is expected to deliver more.
"The Walking Dead companion series (title still TBA) is set in Los Angeles and focuses on new characters and storylines. Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert from The Walking Dead are executive producing for AMC Studios. Dave Erickson, who co-created and co-wrote the pilot with Kirkman, is an executive producer and showrunner. Adam Davidson directed the pilot episode," writes Deadline.
AMC president Charlie Collier released this statement:
"We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television. From the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, we've been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did 'turn.' Through this new series, we're going to find out. We respectfully follow the request of Monty Python as we bring out (the latest of) our Dead."
If this series becomes a success, which the network is definitely banking on, this could mean year round zombie content for 'The Walking Dead' fans.
