After the recently aired Mid-Season 5 finale of 'The Walking Dead' fans of the series are wondering who's going to be the next villain in the series. While Beth's hospital saga has come to a close, some fans of the franchise are of the view that "The Whisperers" or Negan will be the next villain in the series.

So far, nothing's been confirmed about the upcoming villain in latter part of 'The Walking Dead' Season 5, but there are theories and speculations about it.

Stepping into the comic book storyline is one way of making an educated guess at what's in store for the television version of the series.

First, Negan being the head of The Saviors, has the brutal angst that can be seen in most assassins. The Saviors had a previous encounter with the Alexandria Safe-Zone and Team Rick. So, it is possible that these incidents are prerequisites for the actual conflict that could happen. The comics version also highlighted Negan so they could follow this storyline in the next half of the season.

On the other hand, there are other signs that point out to "The Whisperers" turning into the future bad guys. In Season 3, when Rick found Morgan, Morgan talked about "men with dead faces" during his insane rant scene. It is possible that "The Whisperers" have been following Team Rick all along.

As for the storyline, it is better if they can choose "The Whisperers" instead of Negan because Negan is very comparable to the Governor, who they featured before. "The Whisperers" could bring an entirely new challenge to Team Rick. Either way, the production team will not divulge any details about this yet.
