'Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers, Plot News: AMC Series Kills Off Main Character During Winter Premiere Episode
Walking Dead fans are likely still recovering from the winter premiere of the AMC post-apocalyptic hit.
If you didn't see the end of Tyreese coming, then join the over 15 million viewers who tuned in to watch as he died and subsequently left the show.
In what is undoubtedly one of the most popular shows on television at the moment, losing main characters feels weird for viewers.
Unless you are a Walking Dead fan, in which case, you have come to realize that no one lives forever in the apocalypse. As viewers form attachments these characters and become invested in their story, it makes the show heartbreaking but also innovative.
The Walking Dead is a show that is willing to kill just about anyone in the credits to prove the point - no one is safe.
When we meet up with the survivors, they've driven almost 500 miles to get Noah back home to Richmond, Virginia. Rick tells Glenn that this was for Beth - she had wanted him to make it home.
The entire time we are experiencing this new place, Richmond, we are also getting hazy flashes of events that have happened to our characters, and we see a pool of blood. We are left to assume that Richmond is not the safe place that everyone had hoped.
The end for Tyreese was a somber one. As he hallucinated and drifted into death, friends and enemies to bid him well or chide, his cowardice joined him.
Beth serenaded Tyreese into death with a rendition of the Jimmy Cliff song, "Struggling Man." The episode took away a character that seemed to struggle with the reality of what it meant to exist in the post-apocalypse.
In a brutal environment where we learned last year, there is no safe haven; he was against killing anyone - or anything. He struggled to kill "walkers" and those who threatened the lives of those he cared about, like Martin, who held baby Judith at knifepoint only to be allowed to live to help kill Bob.
The mid-season break ended with the gang losing Beth, after just getting her back, and now to have lost Tyreese at the beginning of the second half of the season leaves viewers ask, "Who's next?"
