'Voltron' Season 2 Release News & Update: Netflix Reboot Kicks Off January 2017
The second season of the American version of the Japanese anime "Voltron" is set to arrive January next year.
Following the announcement that Netflix's "Voltron" reboot will have a second season, fans have patiently waited for the announcement of its official release date. Now, it has finally been confirmed that "Voltron" season 2 will start airing its all-new episodes starting January 2017.
Netflix and Dream Works' version of the Japanese anime is executive-produced by "Legend of Korra" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender's" Joaquim Dos Santos.
"Voltron" follows the lives of five teenagers who drive their own lion robots which form a gigantic robot called Voltron. The upcoming reboot of the series will feature the voices of Kimberly Brooks, Rhys Darby, Josh Keaton, Tyler Labine, Jeremy Shada, Bex Taylor-Klaus and Steven Yeun as Princess Allura, Coran, Shiro, Hunk, Lance, Pidge and Keith, respectively.
The anime series first aired in 1984 and has since then been a part of every '80's kid's TV viewing habit. It is known for its striking resemblance with another popular Japanese anime, "Voltes V," which aired a decade earlier.
While the first season of Netflix and Dream Works' reboot was well-received by both critics and the viewing public, it remains to be known if the upcoming series will get the same favorable response as the first. About a decade after the first series arrived, "Voltron: The Third Dimension" was released. After another 10 years, the anime was once again remade on Nickelodeon, but failed to sit well with the viewers.
