Virtual Reality Videos: YouTube to Have Virtual Reality Videos, 3D, 360-Degree Video Support Soon

The hugely popular online video streaming giant, YouTube, is undergoing radical changes. After announcing a subscription service, YouTube has now revealed that it is currently working on virtual reality 3D, 360-degree videos support.

Revealing its latest plans at the recently concluded VidCon 2015, YouTube stated on the social media website Twitter, "Virtual reality is coming to YouTube with 3D, 360-degree video. More details soon! #VidCon"

Currently, YouTube does have a large number of 360-degree videos that are already available and viewers are able to view by clicking up, down or left and right using their keyboard, reports Tech Radar quoting Road to VR.

In addition, the video sharing website also supports 3D videos too. Hence, it was only a matter of time before San Bruno, California-based firm introduced the VR videos.

However, it is really unfortunate that YouTube has not announced as to when it will launch the VR video support. Nevertheless, but it is obvious that the VR videos will be working with Google Cardboard. This is evident from the photograph accompanying its tweet.

Meanwhile, currently Google is also testing VR camera-rigs. Hence, interest in VR as well as VR video creation has obviously been a focus for the company for some time now.

In addition, the Mountain View-headquartered search engine giant is also planning to make its Spotlight Stories 360-degree films available on YouTube soon.

Whatever the case may be, having a popular platform to create virtual reality videos available more easily (and also easily up-loadable for VR content creators) will only prove to be a good thing for the new medium.
