Syfy confirmed that "Van Helsing" is going to be renewed for a second season.

The upcoming season of the thriller series will reportedly offer a different perspective on vampires as evil creatures.  

Based on the official synopsis for season 2, the series will open with Vanessa finding herself in an abandoned hospital.

"Vanessa is holed up in an abandoned hospital with other human survivors. After she wakes, she fends off both vampires and treacherous human beings. In doing so, she realizes she has special powers," reads the synopsis for the new episode.  

Starring Kelly Overton as Van Helsing, the TV series is inspired by the "Van Helsing" comic book from Zenescope, so it is set as a post-apocalyptic vampire hunting tale.

According to showrunner Neil LaBute, viewers will see Vanessa treading a "terrifying road" in the new season. He said he is confident that the series will go on for many seasons, saying that was the reason Syfy trusted them with the renewal. LaBute also revealed that season 2 will be much "bigger" than season 1.

Meanwhile, those who want to binge watch all the episodes of its first season may watch the series on Netflix. The series is currently available on the streaming giant and follows Vanessa as she faces the huge battle ahead of her.
