After an exciting drama filled first-half of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6, it seems as though fans of the series will finally get the chance to see their two favorite characters bond in a romance at last.

Damon and Elena, two of the leading actors in 'The Vampire Diaries', have been dancing around their attraction for as long as we can remember. The CW series has attracted a lot of fans for their "Delena" lovers, but after all this drama together and apart, the upcoming episodes reveal that they may be "finally working their way back towards each other."

On that note, Executive Producer Julie Plec dropped a few hints about the upcoming part 2 of 'The Vampire Diaries' series as she was previewed at a Television Critics Association press tour panel.

She revealed that the couple has been searching for "a functional relationship," and will finally begin the love that they didn't get right the first time.

Actor Ian Somerhalder happily commented, "The three or four [or] five months that were skipped over, the honeymoon phase, you don't typically get to see Damon in a time and space where he's truly happy."

The actor believes that the beloved pair are "extremely deserving" of a break after all they have been through. "Love trumps all," he commented, "So when you see, you want it to win."

Of course, the sixth season can't be all sunshine and roses. EP Caroline Dries had her own comments to add on the upcoming drama. She teased the future relationship will "culminate with a lot of drama and death."

On a side note, the season will delve deeper into Esther and her background. EP Michael Narducci teased, "The big question is, will she show up and come for that child?"
