Fans can expect to watch an intense episode of the supernatural drama television series 'The Vampire Diaries' on Thursday, as Damon tries to rescue his mother from prison and Caroline and Stefan continue to threaten Mystic Falls.

Latin Post reports that in the previous episode, the storyline concentrated on Caroline and Stefan, who were seen switching off their humanity aspect and cling to their emotionless and gory aspect, thereby presenting trouble for Mystic Falls.

In Season 6 Episode 17 titled 'A Bird in a Gilded Cage,' viewers will see the focus shifting to Damon, Bonnie and Elena, who devise a plan to try and save Lily, Damon's mother, who was lost long ago.

The official synopsis of 'A Bird in a Gilded Cage,' posted in Carter Matt, reads, "With the help of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Kai (guest star Chris Wood), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) set forth a plan to rescue Damon's mother Lily (guest star Annie Wersching), who is trapped in the 1903 prison world."

It further states, "Meanwhile, when Caroline's (Candice Accola) plan for Stefan (Paul Wesley) backfires, she is left to pick up the pieces. Elsewhere, back at Whitmore College, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Alaric's (Matt Davis) attempt to reel Caroline back in doesn't quite go as planned when they realize they're outmaneuvered. Lastly, an unexpected gift from Bonnie leaves Damon shaken to his core."

In the meantime, ET Online has released a sneak peek of 'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Episode 17 wherein Damon asks Bonnie for some of her magic blood so that they can use it in a spell to free Lily. It seems that Bonnie agrees somewhat unenthusiastically.

Bonnie is seen yelling at Damon, saying, "I hate Kai and you know that and the first thing you did when I got back was throw him in my face to fake-apologize."

In response, Damon says, "Yeah, and then I real apologized for being a d**k," adding, "Stick with me, Bonnie Bennett. I might just have the answer to all of your prayers."

'A Bird in a Gilded Cage' will air on Thursday, March 19 at 8 pm ET on The CW.
