USMNT vs Switzerland Preview, Schedule, Live Stream Link: International Friendly Kicks Off Mar. 31
The US Men's National Team will be up for a tough task Tuesday, Mar. 31, when they finish their international break with a matchup with a well-oiled Switzerland side in the Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich.
Apart from not being at full strength with injuries to key players like Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, and Clint Dempsey, Jurgen Klinsmann's squad will also be facing a Switzerland team that are undefeated in their last four matches, netting in 13 goals during that run, while only conceding two.
The twelfth-ranked FIFA squad comes into the friendly with the USMNT fresh from an easy 3-0 win against Estonia last Friday in their European Championship Qualifier. They look to bank on players like Xherdan Shaqiri, Granit Xhaka, and Nicklas Bendtner, who came up with a hat-trick just last Wednesday, to attack a vulnerable USA side. The Swiss are currently second in Group E of the European Championship qualifying round behind England.
The USMNT, meanwhile, have been on the other end of the spectrum, coming into the friendly losers of four of their last five matches. They are fresh off a 3-2 loss to Denmark last Wednesday, and will also be without Aron Johansson, who is undergoing treatment for an infection. There will be also be positional decisions to be made by Klinsmann for a team that is seen as an experimental one in preparation for July's Gold Cup, which the team is supposed to be in strong contention for. College star Jordan Morris has been called up to replace Johansson. Morris made his national team debut last November, and most recently scored the first goal for the US under-23 team during last Friday's 5-2 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
