Universal Studios News: Michael Wise Fills New Position - Chief Technology Officer
Universal announced last Tuesday that Michael Wise will be their new Chief Technology Officer. This position was created recently and Universal is proud to fill the role with Wise.
This past week, Sony was recently hacked and some of their private property was leaked. Hackers found many private files that are owned by Sony and leaked them all over the Internet. These hackers wanted Sony to meet certain demands that they had and when they didn't, these files were leaked.
Many say that this is why Universal created this position. Universal denies that and says this position has been in the works for quite some time now.
They went on to say that Wise's position will be simple. It will help Universal to protect their properties and internal data. Wise's position was also developed because the company is looking to release more of their films onto digital platforms.
Michael Wise is a former Turner Broadcasting exec and was there for 4 years. There he helped with their distribution technologies. He oversaw the development of TBS' online programs and players and helped with the film delivery systems.
Before he worked at Turner, Wise worked in the planning and execution department at AOL. Clearly, he has a lot of film and technology experience under his belt. Evidently, Universal has made a very wise decision by appointing him as their Chief Technology Officer.
Universal hopes that this position will allow their digital world to grow and that they can also keep an eye on anyone who wants to hack into their private property and files. The world of technology can be tricky, but they think Wise is their best choice.
