Mark Wahlberg confirmed in a recent interview that he would not be part of the "Uncharted" movie.

For years, directors have come in and dropped off the movie, with only Shawn Levy accepting the challenge of being at its helm. The director said that filming for the movie will kick off soon. Unfortunately for Mark Wahlberg fans, the actor confirmed that he won't be part of it.

Previous reports attached Wahlberg's name to a role in the upcoming movie, Nathan Drake. In "Uncharted," Drake is a self-proclaimed descendant of historic explorer Sir Francis Drake. However, that was when David Russell of "American Hustle" was still linked to the movie's director's chair. Since then, the project has gone through many phases of filmmakers, including Neil Burger, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Rumors about Wahlberg's withdrawal from the show have also surfaced, but it wasn't until the actor's recent interview with We Got This Covered that he confirmed, "As of now, no, I'm not attached."

"Uncharted" consists of four video games and follows Nathan's adventures as he finds legendary riches. Given his ancestry, the character has most commonly chased items and locations that are linked to Drake.

During the IMAX screening for "Real Steel," Shawn Levy said, "I think it's largely a popularly accepted notion that it's as cinematic a game as we've had, maybe ever, certainly of late. And it's cinematic in that it's not only wildly visual, but it's really rooted in character and a very specific tone and a sense of fun, right? When is the last great, fun, fucking action-dynamic, treasure-hunting movie? Right? It's not 'Indiana Jones,' it's not 'National Treasure,' It's very specific, it's all kind of anchored in Nathan's tone."

"Uncharted" is set for release in 2017.
