'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' Release Date, Game Details: Developers Take Title Towards New Direction

Despite the happy go lucky ending of the most recent 'Uncharted' title, the next game in the series is apparently heading in a different direction. Developers revealed that 'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' will be substantially different than the previous franchise releases.

According to developers, this game will take place three years after the events of 'Uncharted 3', well after the main character Nathan Drake and Elena get married.

With the promise of new adventure and coming to the aid of his brother Sam, Drake springs back into another action-packed escapade.

"Their journey will take Drake and Sam to Libertaria, a mythical pirate colony in Madagascar -- though Naughty Dog says the whole game won't take place there. Two rivals, Rafe and Nadine, are trying to find the treasure first, and they're out to make your life difficult," reports IGN.

With the success of Naughty Dog's title, 'The Last of Us', the developers have indeed set the bar very high for themselves in terms of captivating action sequences. In also having to compete with their own previous titles, the developers for 'Uncharted 4' are still very optimistic with what their bringing to the table.

"Naughty Dog added that, after designing the somber world of The Last of Us, the team had to turn the intensity back up to 11 for a game with Uncharted's level of action," IGN reported.

The game has also been confirmed for a multiplayer mode, however it hasn't been revealed on how it will be integrated or what it will exclusively feature.

Though multiplayer isn't particularly new to the franchise, there are also a host of more new features the developers plan to involve in gameplay.

"Though there will of course be several gameplay changes from previous games, one of the most important is the new focus on how Drake gets around the environment. With new tools like the rope and the climbing spike, Drake can discover hidden caves, get a better vantage point for a fight, or avoid some groups of enemies altogether. The levels will still be linear, while offering much more space to explore," writes to IGN.

'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' is set to be released sometime in 2015.
