UFC 2015 News: League Announces Unprecedented December Calendar of Events

Despite losing popular champions like Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva and Jon Jones in recent years, the UFC continues to be one of the fastest growing sports companies in the world. And in December, they're scheduled to undertake something unprecedented yet again as UFC president Dana White announced that the promotion will hold shows for three nights in a row this coming December.

The Ultimate Fighter finale was already slated for Dec. 11, with the massive Jose Aldo-Conor McGregor featherweight title unification fight headlining UFC 194 on Dec. 12. At a media event in Las Vegas, White announced that the UFC would now also be doing a Dec. 10 show.

No fights were announced for the event, but MMA Junkie notes that the event could be UFC Fight Night 80, and will take place at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan. The card will stream on Fight Pass.

According to White, the UFC executives saw that a number of fighters still needed to have fights booked for 2015, hence the decision to add another event.

The TUF finale is headlined by a featherweight clash between Frankie Edgar and Chad Mendes, while UFC 194 is co-headlined by middleweight champion Chris Weidman defending his title against Luke Rockhold.

White notes that as cheesy at it is, the events are dubbed "December to Remember."

During the "Go Big" press conference, White also announced that the historic UFC 200 will be held at the brand new Las Vegas Arena on July 9, 2016. The 20,000-seat arena is scheduled to open in April 2016.

While no fights have been announced for the card, White notes that it will be in conjunction with next year's International Fight Week - a week that sees a three-day fan expo with tons of activities allowing fans to interact with their favorite UFC fighters.
