UFC 186 Barao vs. Dillashaw Fight News: Rib Fracture Postpones Rematch

Fans who were looking forward to learn how former UFC Bantamweight champion Renan Barao would adjust his game when he faces current Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw on UFC 186, will have to wait a little longer as UFC president Dana White announced that the champion suffered a rib fracture in training, forcing him out of the rematch.

White made known the unfortunate news during an interview with Los Angeles' KRRL-FM 92.3 Tuesday.

It was close to a year ago when Dillashaw delivered a career defining performance when he thoroughly dominated Barao winning the Bantamweight title. Prior to that fight, Barao had been riding an undefeated run that spanned close to 10 years.

A rematch was set for September 2014, but Barao suffered a medical issue in relation to his weight cut just a day before the scheduled UFC 177 fight. Joe Soto stepped in on extremely short notice for the main event on that card, Dillashaw's first title defense.

It is expected that the UFC would be pushing the Flyweight title fight between champion Demetrius Johnson and Kyogi Horiguchi of Japan to main event status for the April 25 Montreal pay-per-view event, while "Rampage" Jackson's return to the UFC will be the co-main event when he faces Fabio Maldonado.

Barao posted on Instagram:

"Guys, as you all know, my opponent T.J. Dillashaw got hurt and we won't fight on April 25 anymore. It's a shame because I was preparing myself the best way possible for this fight.

Therefore, I only have one thing to say at this moment: Dillashaw, you can run, but you can't hide. Your time will come and you will have to do everything you say you're going to do without running, or I'll make you swallow your own words.

I'll be waiting."

According to an MMA Fighting report, Dillashaw will be out of commission for six weeks.
