Uber Update News: UberEats Standalone App Launched, Not Related To Taxi Service
Uber is an international transportation network company that specializes in taxi and private car hiring services. It provides convenient means for its clients through the Uber mobile app, which can be used in different parts of the world in finding taxis and private car rentals. The company has just launched a standalone app that is not related to its taxi services. Uber has introduced the UberEats.
As the name implies, UberEats is a mobile app that is intended for ordering food and convenient delivery. Unlike its other mobile app, the UberEats is currently only available in Toronto. The company is probably just waiting for consumer demand to increase in order to expand the coverage area of the new app.
Based on the report of Wired, however, Uber is said to be testing the new app within the existing ride-hailing app in twelve cities. The standalone app that is currently available only in Toronto is the one that is already functional. The food ordering app can be considered to be still in its beta stage. UberEats only includes a relatively small number of meals from Toronto restaurants that are participating in the beta launch.
At this stage, UberEats is still very simple. This makes it very user-friendly but also lacks some more advanced features like allowing customers to customize their pizza with a few swipe of the touchscreen. As what Jason Droege, head of Uber Everything, said in an interview, the company is resisting the urge to make things very complicated for customers and for the participating restaurants.
