U2 Bono Condition Update News: Singer May Not Play Guitar Ever Again
54-year-old Bono, the frontman of band U2, was involved in a bicycle collision in New York Central Park last November and he has doubts as to whether he can play the guitar again.
The collision left him with a fractured eye socket, hand, and shoulder blade - also a bone was driven through the skin of the Irish rocker's arm.
Bono admits that the recovery has been more difficult than imagined and his return to playing the guitar hangs in the balance. He now has a titanium elbow and playing the guitar with such a handicap is difficult.
He has cancelled all public appearances and has decided to wait for developments while he sings to himself. He does not recollect what happened exactly in the accident because he had lost consciousness on impact and found himself in New York Presbyterian with his humerus bone sticking through his leather jacket.
He underwent hours of surgery to repair his eye socket and shoulder blade, apart from having to insert metal plates into his arm.
As reported by witnesses, the Dubliner was trying to avoid another rider when he met with what doctors describe as a "high-energy bicycle accident." As reported by SMH, he wants to concentrate hard and be ready for U2's planned tour later this year.
