'True Detective' Season 2 Update: Writer Nic Pizzolatto Plans to Quit Show After Season 3
Usually, a successful TV show tries to keep the momentum going for as long by producing one season after another. However, this cannot be said for HBO's hit crime drama television series 'True Detective', as writer Nic Pizzolatto has recently announced at the Banff World Media Festival that he will quit the show after three seasons.
Instead of continuing with "True Detective," which has a new story every season, Pizzolatto says he prefers doing a regular TV show with the same cast and the same sets.
Christian Today quotes Pizzolatto telling a reporter, "I can't imagine I would do this more than three years. I mean, I'd like to have a regular TV show. We'll have some fixed sets, regular actors and I could bring in people to help and I don't have to be there every second. It'd be great."
Substantiating his view, the writer went on to say, "It can't have any growing pains like a regular first season. If it works, it has to work right out of the box. That's incredibly exhausting. I mean, the job is exhausting to begin with, but it's doubly exhausting and I'm writing every episode."
Thus far, fans and critics have both hailed Pizzolatto's work in "True Detective." In fact, "True Detective" Season 1, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, not only received rave reviews, but also won several accolades, making the HBO crime drama series a great success. Hence, it did not come as a surprise when the network renewed the show for another season quickly.
Currently, the production of "True Detective" Season 2 of is underway and it is expected to focus on three lead characters that are to be portrayed by Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams. At the same time, Vince Vaughn portrays the character of a criminal who gets caught up in a conspiracy.
Now there are reports that Ashely Hinshaw, who starred in "True Blood" as well as "True Detective" Season 1, will be rejoining the cast. According to Deadline, Hinshaw will portray a character that has been described by the producers to be "a troubled starlet."
"True Detective" Season 2 is scheduled for premiere sometime in the summer of 2015.
