'True Detective' Season 2 Spoilers, Plot News: Did Lieutenant Kevin Burris Murder Ben Caspere?

Believe it or not, 'True Detective' Season 2 has such a complete plot that it may possibly take months of one to completely comprehend the symbolism, the prevailing theme or the show and even the tangible crime scenes. Right from the first episode of Season 2, viewers are aware that the plot revolves around the murder of the City Manager named Ben Caspere.

However, IB Times reports that Caspere's killer is just like a cheshire cat and has proved to be a very sly and difficult criminal to apprehend. Thus far, Ani (Rachel McAdams), Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) and Paul (Taylor Kitsch) have all tracked Ben Caspere's past to find if they get any clue that could lead to his killer, who is widely known as Birdman.

Meanwhile, viewers have been wondering if it is really going to be difficult to find Birdman.

Currently, a popular fan theory on Birdman, this season's killer, has been doing the rounds on the Internet. Many fans believe that the killer, who has gruesome instincts, is in fact Lieutenant Kevin Burris. Considering the fact that 'True Detective' packs as many characters as in any epic movie, it may be somewhat difficult to recollect who Burris is. However, on the show, Kevin Burris is a lean, pale faced detective who in some way has all the information that no one else knows.

Devoted fans of the series may recall that Kevin provided Ray with the information regarding Ben Caspere's disappearance. Moreover, when Ray was shot in 'True Detective' Season 2 second episode, Kevin was the first to be seen at the crime scene and it was exposed that Ray was actually shot with riot shells, which are normally used by police.

Fans are also of the view that Kevin dressed in his uniform in the pub is certainly Ray's dad. According to a popular theory, Kevin didn't want to kill Ray, but decided to get his hands on the hard disk.

Referring to Kevin, a Reddit user afish_insea writes, "Ray's dad talks about Burris in the conversation at his house, saying Burris is good cop material and is really smart. He, on the other hand, didn't follow suit and went with his gut, landing him in half-pension income."

At last, the show runners nearly revealed Kevin's identity in the previous episode, when Irina tells Ray that she was given things belonging to Ben Caspere by a "thin white" guy.

Meanwhile, fan website, Uproxx, says that Ben Caspere's killing does not prove Kevin's criminality. Instead, the article on the website asks, "What if Burris killed Caspere not out of malevolence, but for the greater good? What if he's doing it to protect Attorney General Geldof, who he believes to be the best man for the job of California governor?"

All said and done, it would have been much easier to watch 'True Detective' Season 2, provided the show creator Nic Pizzolato had have left the fans these gems of clues.
