'True Detective' Season 2 News: New Trailer Released Prior to Series Premiere

Season two of True Detective will premiere on HBO on Sunday June 21st, and HBO has released two new promotional trailers for the show's new season.

In the second season, three police officers and a veteran criminal must pull apart a web of conspiracy in a murder.

Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective who is caught between his loyalty to the corrupt police department and a mobster, is played by Colin Farrell, while Vince Vaughn will portray Frank Semyon, who is a career criminal who is afraid of losing his empire after he moves into legitimate enterprise, but his efforts are turned over by the murder of his business partner.

Rachel McAdams also stars in the series as Ani Bezzerides, who is a Ventura County Sheriff's detective.

Her firm ethics put her in a position of conflict with others as well as the system that she is serving for. Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, is played by Taylor Kitsch.

Woodrugh is running from a tumultuous past and a scandal that never happened, which suddenly puts the spotlight on him.

The series, True Detective, is created and written by Nic Pizzolatto. Justin Lin, known for directing Fast Five is directing the first few episodes, while Janus Metz Pedersen, the Danish filmmaker known for his work on Armadillo, has been confirmed as the director of the third episode.

The first season of the show was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and featured Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts and Tory Kittles.
