'True Detective' Season 2 News: HBO Releases New Dark and Gritty Trailer [VIDEO]
The critically acclaimed HBO series, 'True Detective,' recently released their second trailer for their highly anticipated second season.
This trailer takes on a more dark and ominous tone and highlights Vince Vaughn's character as the villain. He begins the trailer stating, "sometimes your worst self is your best self."
Rachel McAdams' character is represented a good amount also.
"The rest of the clip shows him with a crew investigating what looks like an apartment complex for reasons that have yet to be revealed, and a close-up on Colin Farrell's bloody knuckles, as a voiceover recites another perfectly True Detective one-liner: 'My strong suspicion is we got the world we deserve.' Rachel McAdams enters a dark room holding a gun and, in a separate scene, plays with a knife, as her voice explains that a girl has gone missing but nobody seems to care. There are scenes of fire, men showing scars and physical assaults as a noisy soundtrack crescendos to a loud boom. Everything about the clip - which follows up another equally riveting teaser - seems designed to tease what will likely some very tense viewing, beginning on June 21st," writes Rolling Stone.
McAdams' role is one of the more intriguing as this would be quite possibly her most grittiest role ever.
"She doesn't really care what everyone thinks; she feels no responsibility for other people's feelings," the actress stated. "She's not trying to be charming, which isn't always the case with a leading lady.... Not that you want to be a horrendous character, just a little more human."
The second season of 'True Detective' will take place in present day Los Angeles and feature eight episodes. It plans to premiere on HBO on June 21.
