'True Detective' Season 2 Cast and Characters: Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams, Kelly Reilly to Star
HBO has announced that the cast for the television crime drama series 'True Detective' Season 2 is complete. A press release issued by the network this week confirmed that Taylor Kitsch, Rachel McAdams and Kelly Reilly will join Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in the upcoming season.
According to some 'True Detective' Season 2 spoilers, as reported by IBTimes, the upcoming season will be set in California and revolve around the story of "three police officers and a career criminal." These four characters will be seen navigating "a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder." While the series director Nic Pizzolatto will write the script for the new season, 'Fast & Furious' director Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes of 'True Detective' Season 2.
In addition to confirming the names of the actors who will feature in the next season of the show, the network also released their character descriptions, which are as below:
Taylor Kitsch: Kitsh, who starred in 'Friday Night Lights', will be portraying the character of Paul Woodrugh, who is described as "a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway patrol." Paul has a "difficult past" and his character is tarnished by a "scandal that never happened."
Colin Farrell, former 'Daredevil', 'Horrible Bosses' and 'Seven Psychopaths' star, will be portraying the character of Ray Velcoro, who is said to be "a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him."
Rachel McAdams: This 36-year-old prolific actress will portray the character of Ani Bezzerides, who a detective with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. Ani is said to have "uncompromising ethics" that "put her at odds with others and the system she serves."
Vince Vaughn: This time, funny man Vaughn will be seen in a more serious role portraying the character of Frank Semyon, "a criminal and entrepreneur." The press release describes Semyon to be "in danger of losing his empire" after his business partner is murdered.
Kelly Reilly: 'Sherlock Holmes' star Reilly will be portraying the character of Jordan, the wife of Frank Semyon, in 'True Detective' Season 2. The press release describes Jordan as a "former D-list actress who is a fill partner in his enterprises and ambitions."
While HBO has yet to announce the 'True Detective' Season 2 premiere date, speculations are high that the show will fill up the slot vacated by 'True Blood'. In August, Michael Lombardo, HBO programming director, told Hollywood Reporter that 'True Detective' Season 2 was scheduled for a summer 2015 premiere.
