'Tron 3' Cast News, Spoilers: 'Rush' Star Olivia Wilde Talks Third Franchise Installment
Actress, Olivia Wilde, has given fans a hint of what might be in store for the next Tron movie. The actress will be returning to the Tron 3 to play the humanized algorithm Quorra suggesting that the movie will pick up from where Tron: Legacy, released in 2010, left off.
At the end of the last film in the franchise, Sam, played by Garrett Hedlund, and Quorra left the computer world, also known as the Grid, for the real world.
In an interview with Collider, Wilde stated that she was very excited to see what would happen to her character after entering the real world. She also said that she thinks it is an interesting concept and that she is fascinated by artificial intelligence in general.
"I'm fascinated by all discussions of AI, and especially now today and now with virtual reality becoming something that's like a personal device, I think it's time to tell this story," said the actress. She also discussed why it has taken so long for a sequel to be developed, saying that the delay lied in finding the right story, rather than the interference of schedules.
She stated that in the past year, the story has finally come together and that even though there is lot to be done, she says that "the fact that there's a goal of this year to start is really exciting."
The first Tron movie was released by Disney in 1982 and starred Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner in the lead roles. Both actors returned to play their roles in the sequel, Tron Legacy, but it remains unknown whether they will return for the third installment.
