'Transformers 5' New Movie News, Rumors: Will Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg Return for Next Film?

There is no doubt that the 'Transformers' franchise is amongst the most profitable in recent Hollywood film history and fans would be delighted to know that the upcoming installment of the science fiction action film series may be considerably different.

Christian Today reports that perhaps the most important reason why 'Transformers 5' could be different is because director Michael Bay will supposedly not be calling the shots for the upcoming movie.

According to Cinema Blend, Bay has already hinted that he has plans to make movies outside the 'Transformers.' Bay also shared that he has some different types of stories which he would like to tell onscreen. Conversely, this is not the first time Bay has indicated that he wants to move on from the 'Transformers' franchise. Currently, it appears that while Bay is still undecided about his plans, it would not be surprising if he eventually decides to leave the 'Transformers' franchise permanently. Then again, he may also decide to return for at least one more round.

In case Bay does really decides to quit the 'Transformers' franchise, it seems that the people behind the series will require making some moves. Deadline reports that director/producer/screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has supposedly been brought in to work on 'Transformers 5.' However, there are reports that Goldsman will be working with Bay rather than replacing him, leaving Bay's post vacan, at least for the time being.

As far as Mark Wahlberg's return to reprise his role in 'Transformers 5' is concerned, the situation remains equally dark. In fact, there is no doubt that Wahlberg's experience about working with Bay helped convince him to sign up for the upcoming project. However, now the director himself is reportedly bowing out, even Wahlberg could follow in his footsteps.

Aside from this, it is expected that the next 'Transformers' film may also strike a tone that is dissimilar from its predecessors', as it will purportedly focus more on the robots rather than the human characters.

Even if the director, lead actor, and storyline of 'Transformers 5' remains unknown, it is believed that those details will begin to come out soon considering the fact that the movie is also expected to be released by June 24, 2016.
