‘Transformers 5’ Casting News, Rumors: Megan Fox Returns - ‘TMNT’ Director Helms Film?

Rumors have it that Director Michael Bay is stepping down as the director of the upcoming 'Transformers' film and will be replaced by 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' director Jonathan Liebesman.

Paramount Pictures has been keeping quiet on the fate of its science fiction film franchise 'Transformers'. However, the rumor mill has been cranking out news in its place instead, and this time it's saying that the franchise may be saying goodbye to Director Michael Bay.

The rumors have been circulating since last month at the same time that actor Mark Wahlberg confirmed his return for the fifth film. During an interview, Wahlberg responded with an affirmative when asked about returning to the franchise.

"Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more," he said, and then added, "You know, I can't speak for Mr. Bay but something tells me we'll be on the set soon."

The actor's comment fueled rumors about Bay's exit from the franchise, with the more recent rumors coming in that Director Liebesman is being eyed to take over due to his style, which is similar to Bay's, according to IBTimes.

On that note, the news has yet to be confirmed or commented on by any of the parties.

Critics are saying though, that the film franchise could be ending soon, especially given its lack of a story. Not only that, but finding a replacement for Bay after his efforts in the four previous films may be hard to top.

Someone who seems to be onboard to return though is Megan Fox, who last appeared in 2007's 'Transformers' and 2009's 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'.

During an interview with E! News, the actress said she wouldn't mind making an appearance. She said, "If Bay ever wanted me to do a cameo like assembling an Autobot motorcycle in a bike shop or something like that, I would totally do it."

'Transformers 5' is said to hit theaters sometime in the summer of 2016, according to Christian Today. However, given the lack of information about it, it remains to be seen if the film will be able to push through production.
