'Trainspotting 2' Trailer Recap, News: Official Trailer Takes Back Original Cast, Main Characters [WATCH]
Sony Pictures has released the official teaser trailer for Danny Boyle's "T2: Trainspotting" and it confirms the return of its main characters.
The trailer opens with the studios Sony, Tri Star, and Film 4, accompanied by the sound of an approaching train and Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" as background, as per NME. A blue train runs through, with four men hinted at the back. They are revealed as Ewen Bremner's Spud, Ewan McGregor's Renton, Jonny Lee Miller's Sick Boy, and Robert Carlyle's Begbie, the major and original characters in Boyle's 1996 film "Trainspotting."
"T2: Trainspotting" serves as a sequel to "Trainspotting," which follows the four characters, with Renton attached to the Edinburgh drug scene. Though he was influenced by his friends, he tries to clean up and get out. Set 20 years after the events in the first film, exact plot details are yet to be revealed.
Along with Bremner, McGregor, Miller, and Carlyle, the film also stars Simon Weir, Karl Argue, and Paul Ellard, among others. The film is set to be helmed by Boyle, who also directed and produced "Slumdog Millionaire" in 2008 and "127 Hours" in 2010. "The Beach," "Trance," and the original "Trainspotting" film writer John Hodge is set to pen the screenplay.
It is assumed that Boyle's upcoming film sequel will capture fans interest, following thr release of sequels and reboots from other classic films. These include Colin Trevorrow's "Jurassic World" (2015) from Steven Spielberg's (Jurassic Park), Roland Emmerich's "Independence Day: Resurgence" (2016) from his 1996 film "Independence Day," and Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" (2016), which is a reboot of Ivan Reitman's 1984 "Ghostbusters" film.
Boyle's "T2: Trainspotting" is set to be released in United States theaters on Feb. 10, 2017. Watch the teaser trailer here.
