'Trainspotting 2' Hits Theaters In 2017, Main Characters To Reprise Their Roles
It was recently announced that the highly-anticipated "Trainspotting 2" is now happening. Tri-Star has acquired international right to the movie.
The production will start April of 2016; allowing them to adjust with the schedule of Johnny Lee who has commitments to the hit series, "Elementary."
The main characters will reprise their roles; Ewan McGregor as Rentorn, Ewen Bremner as Spud, Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy, and Robert Carlyle as Begbie.
The sequel will be based on the book, "Porno" according to Den of Geek. But it was previously said that it will have a bit of a version of its own.
"It's been 20 years since we met these characters and John Hodge's screenplay brilliantly explores what's happened to them-and to us-in the intervening years. We are grateful to Tom and Hannah for their support and we can't wait to get going," Boyle said in a statement via Geek Tyrant.
Director Danny Boyle had been making arrangements to make the sequel happen sometime around 2016; which would be the first film's 20th anniversary. But he only managed to land the film sometime in 2017. It's still a good news for everyone who enjoyed the original movie. Boyle will be reunited with screenwriter, John Hodge. It was said that the script that they are working on shows the brilliance that they possess.
Carlyle said the the script for "Trainspotting 2" was "one of the best scripts" he's ever read. He added that the fans are going to love what they will see once it comes out in theaters.
