Tracy Morgan News: Comedian Promises to Return to Comedy After Full Recovery
Fans of comedian Tracy Morgan were able to see the entertainer in his first televised appearance since his tragic traffic accident in June 2014, on NBC's Today show.
The accident left the actor bed ridden for nearly a year and took the life of one his good friends, James McNair.
The interview with Matt Lauer was very emotional and took place at the Saturday Night Live studio, a place where we was a cast member for eight seasons. His fiance Megan Wollover was also present for the TV special.
"You walk in this room, what do you think of?' Lauer asks. 'Home,' Morgan replies. 'Just being home. A lot of good memories.' Lauer turns to Wollover to inquire about her reaction during her video call with Tracy. 'I didn't know he was in an accident: I just thought reception dropped,' Wollover said. 'Once I found out the time of the accident, I realized I haven't heard from Tracy since that point."
Morgan stated that one of his chief concerns was how he planned to return to his career in comedy.
"I love comedy, and I wonder how I'm gonna be funny again. Remembering my identity. What do I do?"
Morgan then makes a vow to his fans, promising that he will one day return to comedy.
"I promise you," he stated, "one day, when I'm 100 percent, I'm going to grab that mic and I'm never going to let it go," the 46-year-old said. "I'm gonna be the funniest I can be, 'cause I ain't never going to take life for granted no more."
