'Tomb Raider' Reboot Movie Cast News: Walton Goggins Going To Play New Big Bad

Walton Goggins has been tapped to play the villain in the upcoming "Tomb Raider" reboot film.

According to reports, Walton Goggins is currently in talks with the producers of the film to play the big bad in the 2018 reboot. Goggins previously appeared on the latest films of Quentin Tarantino, including "Django Unchained" and "The Hateful Eight." Currently, he stars in HBO's new show, "Vice Principals."

The description for Goggins' character in the "Tomb Raider" film is still undisclosed. As of this writing, his name, backstory and motivations remain a mystery.

The "Tomb Raider" reboot, which does not have an official title yet, is set to hit theaters on March 16, 2018. Previous reports confirmed that Oscar winner Alicia Vikander will play Lara Croft in the movie.

According to film producer Graham King, the upcoming film will center on Lara's search for her father.

"This is kind of what we call a back to the roots story. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that's what Alicia found so interesting about it," said King.

Director Roar Uthaug also said earlier this year that his movie will try to do something similar to the highly lauded 2013 reboot game. "I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that's definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well," he said.

The director also revealed that he would bring some of his Norwegian sensibilities to the "Tomb Raider" franchise.
