'Tomb Raider' New Movie News: Young Lara Croft to Feature in Upcoming Live-Action Reboot Film

For those unaware, 'Tomb Raider' plans to take the momentum they've built with the video game reboot of their franchise and to now adapt it into a live-action movie.

This movie reboot is already picked up some great talent and recent news will have us believe that the film is moving forward.

"Evan Daugherty has been set to script Tomb Raider, the reboot of the video game property with the fetching heroine, with Warner Bros joining producer Graham King and MGM. The latter studio has signed on to partner in co-financing and co-producing with MGM. Warner Bros will distribute the film. Daugherty's recent work includes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Divergent, Snow White And The Huntsman and G.I. Joe 3," writes Deadline.

Angelina Jolie starred in the first adaptation in 2001, but news would suggest that the studio is looking to cast a younger Lara Croft for the reboot. As the video game did, this movie will serve as an origin story for the archaeologist.

However, no actors or actresses have been cast yet, and it's suspected that Jolie won't reprise her role. On that note, no release date or title for the upcoming film have been revealed.
