'Tokyo Ghoul' Season 3 Release Date, News: Three New Actors Added To Cast?

Three new members were added to the cast of the "Tokyo Ghoul" live-action adaptation.

The new cast members include EXILE Tribe member Nobuyuki Suzuki, Yo Oizumi, and Yuu Aoi, who played Megumi in Rurounin Kenshin's live action flim.

The announcement was made on August 6 via the official website of the film, which follows the original plot of the "Tokyo Ghoul" anime. Suzuki, Aoi and Oizumi will join the 27-year-old Masataka Kubota as Ken Kaneki, and 21-year-old Fumika Shimizu as the main heroine Touka Kirishima.

In the anime, ghouls are creatures that roam around and live along with normal humans. Since they devour on human flesh for survival, they constantly hunt for their prey.

Kaneki Ken, the protagonist, used to live a normal life, but things started to change when he was forcefully pulled into a realm he knows nothing of. By luring him into a trap, Rize Kamishiro won over Kaneki, allowing him to survive through a surgery that turned him into a half-human, half-ghoul. Since then, Kaneki's normal life has been shaken, and he has learned how to live like a ghoul.

Directed by Kentaro Hagiwara, the "Tokyo Ghoul" live-action film is currently being photographed and is expected to be complete by September this year. The film is Hagiwara's first feature after working mainly on music videos and television commercials.

The prime photography for the film started in July and shooting is expected to wrap up in September.

"Tokyo Ghoul" is a manga series that was first featured in the Weekly Young Jump magazine in September 2011.
