Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Movie, Cast News: Tyler Perry Tapped for Sequel Role
Tyler Perry is best known for his role as Madea, the sassy and elderly African American woman who is featured in most of his films. However, he has officially signed on to be a part of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, and he will be playing the role of scientist Baxter Stockman in the movie.
The movie will be directed by David Green, with Will Arnett and Megan Fox reprising their roles.
Another new addition to the cast is Stephen Amell who will be playing Casey Jones. Stockman is one of the major villains in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. In his first attack against the ninja turtles, he creates the Mousers, which are a group of rat destroying machines.
Later in the series, he becomes a cyborg. The movie is being produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
Perry is represented by WME and though he continues to appear as Madea in his movies, all of which he writes and directs, he occasionally branches out to different roles which catch his eye. His last appearance in such a role was a small supporting one in the movie Gone Girl, in which he played the male lead, Ben Affleck's, lawyer.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is one of Paramount's top properties. This was inevitable after the film became a summer blockbuster last year, grossing $191 million in domestic sales.
The screen play is being written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, and production on the film is set to begin next month. Plot details of the movie as well as which of the other cast members from the first film will be returning have yet to be confirmed.
