'Titans' New Series Cast News: TNT to Finish Casting by the Summer
TNT President, Kevin Reilly has come forward about the upcoming 'Titans' series and says that he hopes to move casting along by the summer.
Not much has been said about the series yet, but it will be the first live action adaptation of the classic DC comic series, 'Teen Titans.'
"Not much has been revealed about the series since it was announced in September, which follows a band of young superheroes fronted by Nightwing/Dick Grayson, the former Robin. Akiva Goldsman (Batman & Robin, A Beautiful Mind, Fringe) is executive producing and also penned the pilot episode with Marc Haimes," writes IGN.
The show will attempt to take another feel and style than the current superhero TV shows on the air, such as 'Arrow,' 'The Flash,' and 'Gotham.'
"I sat down with Akiva and said - and he ultimately agreed - that the [TV] landscape right now is well-serviced on the superhero front. So what space is this going to inhabit?" Reilly stated to TV Line. "And really what he wants to do is be very true" to the source material.
The series plans to tell a different kind of story than fans of the franchise are familiar with.
Reilly continues, "there were consequences to things that happened; it wasn't somebody died and they moved on. There was the first superhero to be an addict [in Roy Harper's Speedy]. It's a coming-of-age story for Robin, who feels like Batman has betrayed him."
"I think it's going to end up being a very, very interesting offering. I think it's going to be excellent."
As it stands, a release date for the series has not yet been announced.
