'Titanfall 2' Xbox One, PC, PS4 Release Date News: Game Officially in the Works

With only a lukewarm response to Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall, co-founder Vince Zampella confirmed that a sequel for the first-person shooter in is the early stages of development.

The biggest news to come from the announcement is that Titanfall 2 will now be available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles. Gamers in the past had complained about the exclusivity of the first one, and it looks like Zampella and his team listened.

"We definitely made the right choices for the right reasons," Zampella said in an interview with IGN, "But if you're saying what would we have liked to have done? The opportunity to be multiplatform could have made it even more significant for us."

Titanfall released last year as an online-only game. Fans were disappointed as this as most first-person shooters also have a single player mode along with online for a more personal experience. When the game came out, there were mixed reviews about Titanfall's strict gameplay rules.

"I wouldn't have done it differently," said Zampella, "We set out to do it and it was one of our goals"

Published by Entertainment Arts (EA), Titanfall is a fast paced, online game where players control their characters known as pilots and their mech-style Titans. Each team fights in six-on-six matches set in war torn outer space colonies. Up to 50 characters can be active in a single match.

Zampella remained secret when it came to specifics of the sequel, suggesting that the new title is in the very early stages of production and development. Titanfall is now available for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Players can now enjoy new DLC with the game, revealing nine new maps to play on with other online members.
