Tiger Woods News: Pro Golfer Writes Letter of Encouragement to Bullied Boy Who Attempted Suicide
Bullying is indeed an issue that should be taken seriously as many children are suffering because of it. Famous golfer Tiger Woods may just ease the pain that a boy felt after being bullied for having a stutter and attempting suicide. Woods reportedly wrote a letter to the boy, who is also a big fan of him as a golfer.
Although the letter remains hidden in the public's view, it has been reported that Dillon, the boy who attempted jumping from his window for being bullied for having a stutter is quite relieved and happy about receiving a letter from Woods which he wished for through his mother.
Dillon's mother previously emailed Dillon's mentor, Sophie Gustafson, a former LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) touring pro who apparently also battles the same stuttering condition that Dillon has. In the email which was released in a piece written by Ron Sirak in the Golf's Digest as he was writing about Gustafson, the alarming incident was told.
"On the week of April 16th, he had a bad week, he had been teased about his stuttering. That evening, he attempted suicide," the email from Dillon's mother to Gustafson read. "He yelled downstairs 'Good bye, I love you.' Me and my husband immediately ran upstairs, his bedroom door was locked, we busted down the door and he was sitting on the window and was getting ready to jump. We were able to grab him and keep him from going head first onto the concrete below."
The story continued with Dillon's mom saying, "Is there anyway we could get his story to Tiger and see if he could help find something encouraging for [him] to look forward to?" she asked of Gustafson which Gustafson happily reported to her social media that Woods answered Dillon's wish and encouraged him.
"Thanks so much @TigerWoods for sending my friend Dillon a letter. He got so happy! It's being framed and hanged. #class," Gustafson recently wrote on her Twitter mentioning Woods who recently split his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Gustafson also recently announced that Dillon is okay, "Yes he is. Small steps but he really appreciates all support that has been shown for him," she wrote on Twitter.
