'Thor: Ragnarok' News & Update: Sam Neill Joining Cast But Keeps Role A Mystery

Sam Neill will join Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston and reunite with "Hunt for the Wilder People" director Taika Waititi for "Thor: Ragnarok."

In his interview with Short List, the actor confirmed that he is joining the cast of the new installment but refused to disclose his role.

"I'm not really allowed to say this and I can't tell you what it is.  I did a couple of days on 'Thor' just before I came over here," he said.

"If I say anything else, Marvel's secret agents--and they are lethal--will come and get me and probably my children as well," he quipped.

Since he said that he only filmed for "a couple of days," some speculate that Neill has signed on for a brief cameo or just did some voice work. However, there are rumors that "Thor: Ragnarok" will be a cosmic-road trip movie that will incorporate parts of the "Planet Hulk," so it is difficult to determine what the actor is set to portray.

Fans hope that Neill will land on a larger role in the cinematic universe, as he is seen as a great addition to its powerhouse cast. If he is just a cameo, fans hope that it's the kind of cameo that lets him spend some screen time with Jeff Goldblum, his co-star in "Jurassic Park."

Aside from Neill, other newcomers include Cate Blanhett, Tessa Thompson and "Jurassic Park" co-star Goldblum, who will play Marvel's first female villain Hela, Valkyrie and The Grandmaster, respectively. Recent reports also suggest that Benedict Cumberbatch will have a cameo appearance as "Doctor Strange."

"Thor: Ragnarok" hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
