Tessa Thompson joins the cast of "Thor: Ragnarok" after Natalie Portman's exit, and many are speculating that she will be playing a major role in the upcoming standalone Marvel film.

Thompson will be Chris Hemsworth's new love interest, notes Deadline. According to the website, her character will be a superhero but details are yet to be revealed.

On the other hand, Gizmodo reported that she might fill Natalie Portman's shoes. It has been reported that Portman was ready to leave the franchise since she was not happy returning to "Thor: The Dark World."

And since the reports could hint something about Thor's love story, it could be that him and Portman's character, Jane, will "break up off-screen."

Sourcing Hollywood Take, Gizmodo deducted that Thompson's character might be Brunnhilde The Valkyrie. Sif and Lorelei were not plausible, especially that the latter is a villain and Amora the Enchantress is also one of the antagonists.

Moreover, Lainey Gossip guessed that she could be Monica Rambeau, who is connected to Captain Marvel. The website's notes that the hearsay resulted in Thompson's race, since Rambeau is black. The media outlet is happy to write that Thompson is an exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Rambeau is the first black superhero, should she play the role.

While these speculations still need to be confirmed, the website notes that the film might go beyond the comic adaptation.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is directed by Taika Waititi and also features Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Alexander, Mark Ruffalo and Lou Ferrigno.

The anticipated Marvel motion picture is set to kick off in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
