'Thor 3' Release Date, Cast & Plot Rumors: 'Ragnarok' Installment Set to Premiere in July 2017
Rumors about the upcoming film, 'Thor: Ragnarok', the third film in the series, have been keeping fans excited as they wait for its premiere in theaters. While many of the rumors cannot be confirmed, some feel that they can help the writers develop the script as it is reportedly not yet finished.
However, there is some information about the cast of the upcoming series installment that has already been confirmed.
First, and foremost, Chris Hemsworth will be returning as the heroic Thor, and Tom Hiddleston will be returning as Thor's evil brother, Loki. Surtur has been confirmed as the main antagonist, but there is no news on who will take the role.
Perhaps L.L Cool J, or Daniel Radcliffe will vie for a spot in the largely un-cast film, as both stars have expressed significant interest in being connected to such a project. Even past contributing actors to the project are not yet confirmed to be part of the new film.
In regards to the film's plot. the title suggests that Ragnarok will be the main plot point of the film.
Some have gone as far as to speculate that the Tree of Yggdrasil will spark Ragnarok, while others place the blame on Loki.
Other rumors go on to say that the plot will not be focused on the Ragnarok comicbook storyline, but about the character Ragnarok, a clone of Thor, instead. However, since Surtur has already been confirmed as the antagonist, the latter option seems unlikely.
On that note, Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost are working on the script, with no word on when production will officially start. However, Marvel has not left their fans hanging, as the company has already announced a July 28, 2017 release date.
